Sorrel Glazed Chicken

Ingredients

For the Chicken:
  • 1 4-pound smoked chicken

  • 3 tbsps Olive oil

  • 1/2 tsp Steak or grilling seasoning

  • 1 tsp Chicken seasoning

  • 2 tbsp Green seasoning (Featured: KF Fresh Green Seasoning)

  • Additional item shown: KF Crushed Garlic

For the Sorrel Glaze:
  • 1/2 cup Dried sorrel (Featured: KF Dried Sorrel/Hibiscus)

  • 1 cup Water

  • 1/4 cup Honey

  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar

  • 1 tsp Crushed garlic

  • 4 whole Cloves

  • 1/2 tsp Dried thyme

  • Pinch of salt


Directions

1. Make the Glaze
  • Boil water, add sorrel, and boil for 5 mins.

  • Turn off heat, cover, and steep for 10 mins.

  • Strain, add liquid to pot on medium-low heat.

  • Add honey, sugar, garlic, cloves, thyme, and salt.

  • Simmer until reduced by half. Set aside.

2. Prep the Chicken
  • Gently split backbone and open the chicken.

  • Pat dry with a paper towel.

  • Mix olive oil and seasonings.

  • Brush inside then outside of chicken.

3. Roast & Glaze
  • Roast for 15 mins at 350°F.

  • Brush with glaze, then roast for 10 mins.

  • Brush again, then roast for another 10 mins.

  • Brush with a final glaze coat, then let rest for 15 mins before serving.
